Factors that Influence Barcode Pricing
Many factors influence the cost of your barcode scanning solution including the 5 factors below.
License Type
In the industry, software can be licensed in two ways: perpetual or software as a service (SaaS). With the perpetual model, you purchase the software upfront and pay an annual support fee. In the SaaS model, you pay an annual subscription fee without an initial upfront cost.
Users
The number of users employing the mobile or scanning device generally influences the pricing. Some software companies count each individual user separately, while others consider the number of concurrent users on the system.
Hardware
For most software, an Android device capable of scanning is necessary. Many companies opt for rugged devices for their warehouses or production facilities. However, any Android-based phone can also be used. Additionally, infrastructure is required to operate the software. Some software will need multiple servers and databases, while others can leverage your existing JD Edwards architecture and database.
Ongoing Support
Companies offer product support with their offerings in both types of licensing models. However, if you require a new flow or script, or assistance with modifying a process, most software companies will charge extra for this. Some SaaS models include this additional support in the annual cost.
Implementation
Implementation of the software is typically not part of the license fee. It is a distinct project involving installation, configuration, and development flows for customers. The fee will vary based on whether you can utilize standard functionality or require customization. Additionally, the number of flows will influence the cost.

How Much Will Implementation Cost?
When implementing a barcode scanning solution, it is important to consider the initial expenses associated with installation, configuration, and the development of the necessary flows.
